Welcome!

We are in the process of forming a new organization, the Botanical Art Society of St. Louis.

The Botanical Art Society of St. Louis will be a nonprofit corporation dedicated to promoting the development, awareness, and appreciation of contemporary botanical art in the St. Louis area. Upon its formation and approval by the Board of Directors, the society will operate as a local chapter of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA). www.amsocbotartists.org

The Botanical Art Society of St. Louis is being founded to provide educational, peer interaction, public relations and exhibition opportunities for artists and others who share an appreciation for the beauty and significance of the botanical world and a belief in the potential for botanical art to foster that appreciation.

The organization will be open to all who believe in the value of contemporary botanical art as a fine art; the potential of botanical art to increase public awareness and appreciation of plant diversity, plant ecology and the importance of preserving plant species; the potential of botanical art to aid in scientific understanding of the botanical world; and the benefits of collaboration between artists, patrons, curators, botanists, gardeners, conservationists, and educators in promoting botanical art.

The vision of the Botanical Art Society of St. Louis is that the St. Louis area will become a nationally and internationally recognized center of contemporary botanical art with a vibrant, active community of artists. It is our hope that the St. Louis area will be the host to regular exhibitions, industry meetings, educational opportunities and ultimately a permanent facility dedicated to the creation, enjoyment and exhibition of contemporary botanical art. It is our intention that the Botanical Art Society of St. Louis will be recognized as a unifying organization bringing together individuals and other organizations dedicated to art, botany, and plant conservation, leveraging the concentration of related institutions already active in the St. Louis area.
